1. General information
The subject of Developmental Psychology aims for students to know the general characteristics of the stage from 6 to 12 years of age in which they are going to teach, so they will have to know precisely the different areas in which the psychological development ofthis stage is described, the most relevant evolutionary milestones of this stage as well as the explanations that psychology has offered about the changes, in such a way that the role of the school, the family or peers can be located. These approaches and goals are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
Goal 3: Health and wellness

Goal 5: Gender Equality.
Goal 10: Reduction of Inequalities
2. Learning results
1. -Describes child behavior from 0-12 years in its different areas: physical, sensory-motor, cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional and personal.
2. -Identifies different rates of development in specific areas: sensory-motor, cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional and personal.
3. -Predicts what psychological development will be like for a particular case from general theories and from the information provided.
4. -Assesses the degree of normal or problematic development in specific cases.
5. -Relates the actions of different agents, family, school, peers..., etc., to the process of optimizing development.
This basic training block is fundamental to place the future teacher's performance , providing the conceptual basis to understand the characteristics of the students and to have an integral vision of them. It is essential from the perspective of the competencies to be developed at school, which require cognitive and linguistic knowledge, but also social and personal skills, to be developedat.
Thus, developmental knowledge will be essential in order to address a variety of issues such as curricular contents, without forgetting the role of the psychomotor area or the linguistic area in the development. On the other hand, knowledge about social, emotional and personal development will be essential to build the "know how to be". In summary, knowledge of development will allow the teacher to approach specific didactics from different areas and to relate his/her performance and that of theeducational system to the optimization of the child's development.
3. Syllabus
- Introduction to Psychology
- Psychology of child and adolescent development in its main areas (physical, sensory, motor, cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional and personal) based on their periods of maturation, adaptation and learning.
- Biological and environmental aspects that influence personality development.
4. Academic activities
Programmed learning activities may include the following elements:
- Large group presentations by teachers that include both the key elements of the subject and illustrative videos of different aspects of development.
- Group work that may involve the analysis of cases, texts, videos and other elements that illustrate aspects of development.
- Developmental observation activities and practical intervention in natural contexts and/or educational centers.
- Self-assessment reports of learning carried out with special emphasis on the student's ability to relate theory and practice.
- Use of different teaching methodologies.
5. Assessment system
The evaluation of the students will be mixed, with evaluable activities during the period of teaching and a final test in exam format. As for the weight of the tests in the student's final grade, , 100% will be divided between part a) oral or written evaluation test, with a value of 50% of the final grade, as well as part b) practices of the subject, with a value of 50% of the final grade. In any case, it will be necessary to pass the final exam in order to obtain the grade of passing in the subject. Total or partial fraud or plagiarism in any of the evaluation tests will result in the failure of the course with the minimum grade, in addition tothe disciplinary sanctions that the guarantee committee adopts for these cases.
Assessable activities carried out during formal teaching
1. Individual and/or group reports of case resolution and other works in different media that offer samples of the development of 0-12 years.
2. Individual and/or group activities related to the development of 0-12 years old.
3. Final assessment. Final individual written test based on multiple-choice questions, development, cases or papers..
The students who have not completed the evaluable activities carried out throughout the course will be graded according to the regulations of evaluation established by the University of Zaragoza, in a unique test of final evaluation composed by theoretical and practical test.
The students of the 5th and 6th call will be evaluated with the same evaluation system as the rest of the students the rest of the students.
Finally, it must be taken into account that the Regulations of the Rules of Coexistence of the University of Zaragoza will apply to irregularities committed in the evaluation tests through academic fraud, as well as the application of article 30 of the Regulations of Learning Evaluation Rules in relation to irregular practices other than academic fraud.
